Cosmetic Dentistry

One of the first things that we notice about anyone we meet is their smile.

If you had braces as a child then you probably remember how you managed to adjust your smile to avoid showing them. We can become very self conscious of our smile if our teeth are not looking good.

Since avoiding a smile can be a serious social impediment, keeping our teeth in good order is a must. There are so many things that can be done to help improve your smile that it is well worth looking into cosmetic dentistry. Of course, when looking for someone who does cosmetic dentistry, Los Angeles is the place.

From something as simple as making your teeth whiter to repairing broken or chipped teeth, it can all be done very simply and quickly. Methods of cosmetic surgery have come a long way and there may be more than you think that can be done to improve the look of your teeth. Of course, although looks are a big factor in Los Angeles, is not all about how your teeth look.

Looking Good and Feeling Good.

The smile has to look good but just as important, or more important, is the health of your teeth. If you want to improve things with cosmetic surgery it is a good idea to make sure that your cosmetic dentist is also checking your general dental condition as well. Seeing that your teeth are feeling good as well will ensure you can keep smiling that white smile!

Porcelain Veneers

Tooth veneers, the thin porcelain layers placed on the front of teeth, can be done on just one or a number of teeth. Generally people have tooth veneers done on their front teeth. These are obviously the teeth that people notice the most and show when you smile.

What is Involved in getting Tooth Veneers?
If you are getting veneers fitted to your teeth it will take two dental visits (after consultation). The time of each visit will depend on how many teeth you are getting capped. Each tooth veneer is made to fit exactly over your own tooth and time has to be taken to ensure the most natural fit.

The first visit generally involves removing a thin layer of enamel from your teeth. This is so that the veneers will fit and look natural. If enamel were not removed the tooth veneers would feel bulky and uncomfortable.

After an impression of your teeth has been made on the first visit, the second visit will involve fitting the veneers. Each tooth veneer is bonded to the front and biting edges of the natural tooth. When completed the new look will be stronger and whiter!
